I’m going with NP, a running driving car with an up to date service, probably has airbags and ABS.

CP because it is a Lumina.

Haggle down to $2k I’d go NP. $2500 is a little steep for this body Lumina IMO, especially one with that garbage 3400.

Borderline NP. I think $2,000 cash might take it home, and for that I’d be pretty happy.

Too high for a NP, but not quite high enough for CP. I say its RP for reasonable price.

3.4 or 3400? I’m guessing it’s the 3400.
Can swap both into the Fiero but the 3400 is more work.

WHEN I’M THINKING SERIOUSLY ABOUT BUYING A 19 YEAR OLD CHEVY WTF IS WRONG WITH ME?

3.4L is the same as 34oo cc.

I’d say it’s a NP assuming it looks the same in person and does well on a test drive.
This made me decide to check my local CL for luminas, and I feel like this one is definitely a nice price.

Those tires are worth something in that state. And it’s green too. If there’s no hidden rust or other problems, it’s worth it. I’d still haggle it down a bit.

We have the same tires on a work ford explorer and they do pretty well. I hate studs but you really need snow tires in Whitefish. Blizzaks are still the high bar but Toyo is pretty close .

Nice Price on the condition that it goes, turns and stops decently well... and that it’s not rusted out underneath.

Rust is not an issue in this area of the state.

It’s a GM marketing thing. In GM-speak a “3.4L” is a 1st or 2nd gen engine, the “3400" is a 3rd gen engine. They are part of the GM 60 degree V6 family, which included 2.8L, 3.1L, and 3.4L engine. A ll the 3.4L engines have the same bore and stroke, and all are actually 3350 cc.
1st gen engines were all iron and had 2 barrel carbs, though some late ones got throttle body injection. All were 2.8L except the F-body cars, which got 3.4L.
2nd gen engines got aluminum heads, the 3.1L was introduced, and started with TBI and eventually got multi-port fuel injection.
3rd gen engines got a new, stiffer block with structural oil pan, revised heads, different intake, switched to roller cams, and sequential fuel injection.

But it’s still important to crawl under it to make sure the rust isn’t there.
While it might be in that part of the state right now, there is no guarantee that the car didn’t live part of its life or was driven to places where they salt the roads.

I’m currently thinking seriously about buying a 32 yo Oldsmobile....... https://oppositelock.kinja.com/bad-idea-or-not-1841935075

Yeah, and with that much tread on them, you kinda have to spot the seller a bit on the price. He did spend the money after all.

I think they’re different motors. Both 60 degree V6s, but very different technology wise. The original 60 degree family, “Gen 1" include the
2.8, 3.1, and 3.4 which
are practically interchangeable with an intake manifold and ECU swap.
Upon digging on the 60 Degree wikipedia page, it makes this car seem very interesting, or the ad is incorrect.
2001 Luminas were fleet only vehicles, and only came with the LG8 3.1 engine. Parts were used in the later LA1 “3400"
Curiouser and c
uriouser.
